5 Days Gorilla and Chimpanzee Trekking Safari
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park

Chimpanzee in Kibale Forest National Park
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will meet your safari guide and begin the scenic drive to Kibale National Park. The journey takes approximately five to six hours, passing through lush countryside, tea plantations, and rural villages. You will have lunch en route before arriving at your lodge in the afternoon. Depending on the time, you may choose to take a guided nature walk around the lodge to explore the beautiful surroundings. Dinner and overnight in Kibale.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest
After an early breakfast, you will head to the Kibale Forest headquarters for a briefing before setting off into the dense rainforest in search of a habituated chimpanzee group. The trek takes between two to four hours, during which you will have the chance to spot various monkey species, birds, and butterflies. Once you locate the chimpanzees, you will spend an hour observing them as they swing through the trees, groom each other, and communicate in their natural habitat. After lunch, you will take a guided nature walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run conservation area that is home to several primate species, including red colobus monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, and vervet monkeys, as well as a variety of birdlife such as the great blue turaco. The walk provides an excellent opportunity for birdwatching and cultural encounters with the local community. Dinner and overnight in Kibale.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, you will embark on a scenic journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive takes approximately six to seven hours, offering breathtaking views of rolling hills, crater lakes, and the Albertine Rift Valley. You will stop for lunch en route before continuing through small villages and tea plantations. Upon arrival at Bwindi, you will check into your lodge and relax in preparation for the next day’s gorilla trekking experience. Dinner and overnight in Bwindi.

Day 4: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Forest
After an early breakfast, you will report to the park headquarters for a briefing before heading into the dense rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek can take anywhere from two to six hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements. Once you find them, you will have one unforgettable hour to observe their interactions, take photos, and appreciate the incredible bond within their family group. After lunch at the lodge, you will take part in a community visit to meet the Batwa people, the indigenous forest dwellers who once lived in Bwindi before it became a national park. You will learn about their traditional hunting techniques, medicinal plants, and cultural dances. This experience provides an insightful glimpse into their way of life and efforts to preserve their heritage. Dinner and overnight in Bwindi.
