Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi – Community Visit

5 Days Uganda–Rwanda Primate Safari

Today is the highlight of your safari. After an early breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for a briefing at 7:00 AM. You’ll be assigned to a habituated gorilla family and head into the forest with a ranger guide. The trek can last anywhere between 2 to 6 hours depending on the gorilla group’s location. Once found, you’ll have one unforgettable hour with the gorillas—watching them feed, play, and interact. This is one of the most emotional wildlife experiences in Africa. Day 3: Cross to Rwanda – Scenic Drive to Volcanoes National Park

After an early breakfast, drive to Kinigi Park Headquarters for your Golden Monkey Trek. Day 5: Golden Monkey Tracking or Hike to Dian Fossey Tomb

After breakfast, you can choose between two optional activities. You can either embark on a golden monkey tracking experience or hike to the Dian Fossey Tomb. If you choose golden monkey tracking, you will be transferred to the park headquarters for a briefing. Golden monkeys are known for their playful nature, and the trek usually takes 3 to 4 hours. Once you find the monkeys, you will spend one hour observing them in their natural habitat. Alternatively, you can choose the Dian Fossey Tomb hike. The hike to the tomb is about 3 to 4 hours and takes you through dense forest to the site where Dian Fossey, the renowned gorilla conservationist, is buried. You will also visit her former research center and learn about her contributions to gorilla conservation. After return to the lodge for lunch and spend the afternoon at leisure. You can relax. Dinner will be served at the lodge, and you will spend the night there.

Day 6: Return to Kigali and Departure

After breakfast at the lodge, you will drive back to Kigali. The drive takes around 2-3 hours. Upon arrival in Kigali, you can explore the city depending on your flight schedule. If time permits, you can visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial to learn about Rwanda’s history or shop for souvenirs at a local market. Afterward, you will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Your guide will then transfer you to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
